The centre serves Tjuntjuntjara, a community of Spinifex people in Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert.

Programs and services

Government services and everyday assistance

The CRC provides Services Australia assistance as a Centrelink Agent, helping residents navigate myGov, complete applications and access appointments.

Staff also assist with identification, banking, government forms and referrals. Other functions include mail distribution and helping coordinate housing maintenance requests.

Technology, training and employment skills

The centre supports access to computers and online services, alongside workshops and individual assistance.

Its work includes developing digital skills, financial capability and employment readiness, helping community members use services and pursue opportunities locally.

Children, young people and recreation

PTAC’s youth and children’s services include sport, recreation and school-holiday programs.

Activities support social and emotional wellbeing, cultural connection and life skills. Youth workers collaborate with other community services to create welcoming activities and encourage participation.

Contact the CRC to connect with the youth team and find out what is coming up.

Community activities

The CRC supports local events, training and community-building activities, with equipment hire and community media among its services.

It provides a practical point of contact for residents, visiting organisations and people interested in supporting community priorities.

Connections to health and aged care

PTAC also operates Spinifex Health Service, the community-controlled health service for Tjuntjuntjara.

Its wider services include support for older residents to remain at home. The Commonwealth Home Support Program listing includes meal delivery, gardening and home maintenance assistance. Contact the service about availability and access arrangements.
