Programs and community activities

Swimming and football

GSAC’s Mount Magnet programs include pool activities during warmer weather and football during the winter season. Football activities have included training, weekend competition and trips to neighbouring communities for matches.

Healthway’s account describes how participation connects young people with teammates, families and opportunities to develop confidence and leadership.

After-school and holiday activities

GSAC and the WA Centre for Rural Health jointly plan and deliver after-school and holiday programs across Mount Magnet, Mullewa and Geraldton. Their partnership includes sporting and educational activities, homework clubs and breakfast programs.

This work brings recreation and practical support together through connections with schools, health services and community organisations.

Healthy eating and wellbeing

GSAC’s Healthway-supported work combines physical activity with healthy eating and mental wellbeing. Its programs use sport and recreation to encourage healthy habits and strengthen relationships between young people, families and their communities.

Language and cultural connection

Mount Magnet Youth Centre has also been listed as a venue for Badimia language classes through the Badimia Guwaga Project. The project connects community members with opportunities to learn and practise language. Contact the organisers for current arrangements.
