6510Youth — Moora

WAssup 108 Speakers ProgramConfirmed · future allocation

A place for young people to connect, take part and develop their interests.

6510Youth is operated by Avon Community Services at Moora Youth Centre. Its youth development programs include drop-in sessions, leadership, alternative learning and school-holiday activities, with a focus on young people aged 12–18.

The service grew from a partnership formed in January 2013 between the Shire of Moora and Avon Youth, bringing their youth services together at one venue. Today, Avon’s Moora service forms part of its wider work supporting young people across the Wheatbelt.

Programs and opportunities

After-school drop-ins

Moora Youth Centre runs after-school drop-ins from Monday to Thursday during school terms. Young people can spend time together, join activities and connect with the local youth team. Contact the centre for current session times and arrangements.

Leadership, learning and holiday activities

The Shire lists leadership, alternative learning and school-holiday programs among 6510Youth’s offerings. These provide different ways for young people to participate beyond the regular drop-in sessions. Ask the team about upcoming activities and opportunities to get involved.

Youth support and mentoring

Avon’s Youth at Risk program operates in Moora and surrounding areas for young people aged 12–18. It includes mentoring, case management and activities supporting social wellbeing.

Workers provide individual guidance and collaborate with other agencies when a young person needs specialist support. Avon’s referral form includes options for self-referral and referrals from other services.

Health, wellbeing and connection

Avon’s youth education covers social and emotional wellbeing, alcohol and other drugs, tobacco, sexual health, and connections to Country and community. These topics sit alongside its recreational activities and individual support.

Moora and the WAssup 108 Speakers Program

Confirmed — future allocation

Avon Community Services / 6510Youth has confirmed a future speaker placement for Moora Youth Centre. Its regular drop-ins and developing youth programs provide opportunities for music and portable sound to become part of everyday activities.

The speaker and two wireless microphones will be provided free and managed locally. Possible uses include music, karaoke, workshops, games, performances, presentations and community gatherings. The local team and young people will decide how the equipment best fits their activities.

Moora has its own confirmed placement alongside Avon’s separate Merredin placement. Avon’s earlier Northam speaker donation helped establish the idea behind WAssup and sits outside the official 108 tally.

A speaker number and delivery date have not been assigned.

There is no requirement to fundraise, provide publicity or share photographs or videos. Avon’s safeguarding, consent and cultural processes will guide participation and any sharing.
