Programs and support
Drop-in activities and recreation
Avon’s drop-in centres give young people somewhere to spend time together, with activities including pool, table tennis and Xbox. These spaces provide opportunities to socialise and connect with youth workers. Contact the Merredin team for current opening times and activities.
Strengthening Aboriginal Health
Delivered in Merredin, Northam and Narrogin, Strengthening Aboriginal Health supports Aboriginal young people through wellbeing activities, mentoring and case management.
Avon’s youth education covers social and emotional wellbeing, alcohol and other drugs, tobacco, sexual health, and connections to Country and community.
Mentoring and referrals
Young people can receive individual guidance through Avon’s mentoring and case management services. Workers help identify support needs and connect young people with other agencies where specialist assistance is appropriate.
An online referral form includes both self-referral and agency referral options. Check eligibility and availability with the team.
Housing and independent living
Avon’s wider services include accommodation and support for young people experiencing homelessness or unstable housing. Its Joining the Dots Lifestyle Program supports the transition towards independent living. Contact Avon to discuss the appropriate service and location.

Merredin and the WAssup 108 Speakers Program
Confirmed — future allocation
Avon Community Services has confirmed a future speaker placement for its Merredin youth service.
The portable speaker and two wireless microphones will support youth activities, music, karaoke, workshops, performances, announcements and community events. The equipment will be provided free and managed locally, with the team and young people deciding how it fits into their activities.
Merredin has its own confirmed placement. Avon’s earlier Northam speaker donation helped establish the idea behind WAssup and sits outside the official 108 tally.
A speaker number and delivery date have not been assigned.
There is no requirement to fundraise, provide publicity or share photographs or videos. Avon’s safeguarding, consent and cultural processes will guide participation and any sharing.
