Margs Youth Collective — Margaret River
Young people helping shape their community.
Margs Youth Collective (MYC) gives high school aged young people opportunities to have a say, develop ideas and help organise activities in their community.
Supported by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, the collective brings young people together to discuss what matters to them and turn their interests into local events and projects. Members can contribute to Shire decisions, work alongside other young people and gain experience organising activities.

Young voices, activities and opportunities
Planning activities together
MYC’s past activities have included music events, skate competitions, silent discos, art workshops, movie and culture nights, school-holiday activities, road trips and adventure camps. Young people help shape these activities around their interests and ideas.
Music, creativity and community events
The Shire’s Margs Youth Fest in April 2026 brought together local youth bands, dance performances, interactive art workshops, basketball and food stalls. Organised by its Community Development Trainee, the event gave young people opportunities to perform, participate and spend time together.
Spaces for young people
The Zone Room and Youth Hall at Margaret River’s Youth Precinct provide spaces for workshops, creative activities, youth events and community gatherings. Located beside the skate park, the Zone Room includes games, comfortable seating, kitchen facilities and presentation equipment. These are shared facilities with booking arrangements managed by the Shire.
Learning through community work
The Shire’s annual Community Development Traineeship offers a local school graduate a year of employment and experience in community development. Its work includes youth participation, arts and culture, access and inclusion, and community projects.
