Kalumburu Aboriginal Corporation — Kalumburu
Kalumburu Aboriginal Corporation (KAC) is a community-controlled organisation serving Kalumburu in the north Kimberley.
Its work supports children, young people, Elders and families through youth activities, community care, government service access and local facilities, with culture and connection to Country central to its purpose.
Programs and services
Youth activities and time on Country
KAC’s youth program offers activities shaped around young people’s interests, including separate boys’ and girls’ groups.
Activities have included fishing, crabbing, swimming, trips on Country and movie afternoons. Local youth workers help participants spend time together, build relationships and share knowledge, with older young people also passing skills to younger participants.
Contact KAC for current activities, participation requirements and session times.
Home and Community Care
KAC delivers a Home and Community Care program, supporting community members who need assistance.
Contact the corporation to discuss available services, eligibility, referrals and support for an individual or family member.
Community Resource Centre and government services
KAC operates the Kalumburu Community Resource Centre and provides Centrelink-related services.
The CRC is a local contact point for community information and help finding appropriate services. Contact staff before visiting if you need assistance with a particular enquiry or document.
Culture, wellbeing and community events
KAC supports cultural connection, community participation and activities bringing residents together. Its work recognises the role of Elders, family, language and Country in community life.
Events and visiting services include Aboriginal Justice Open Days, where residents can access assistance with identification, fines and driver’s licence enquiries. Check with KAC for future visits and local events.
Coconut Lodge accommodation
KAC operates Coconut Lodge, providing accommodation for visiting workers, contractors and other visitors.
Facilities include air-conditioned rooms, bathrooms, a shared kitchen, laundry and parking. Contact KAC about availability, booking arrangements and suitability for your visit.
