Hopetoun Community Resource Centre — Hopetoun
Hopetoun Community Resource Centre is a community-owned organisation providing practical services, learning opportunities and activities for local residents, families, businesses and visitors.
Its work spans the CRC and public library on Veal Street, together with youth and creative activities at the Hopetoun Youth & Art Space.
Programs and services
Youth activities and after-school support
The CRC’s Youth Space provides regular activities for young people in Years 7–12. Delivered through the Hopetoun Youth & Art Space, the program offers opportunities to socialise, participate and connect with local youth workers.
The Hopey After School Club supports primary school children from Year 2 upwards with educational games, conversation and an afternoon snack. Contact the CRC for current sessions and registration requirements.
Youth events have also included a community handball tournament and other activities at Hopetoun Skate Park during Youth Week.
Early childhood and family activities
Storytime introduces children aged 0–5 to books, songs, rhymes and craft. Beat Bop adds music and movement, while Fitz Kids Cook gives young children and their families opportunities to prepare food, explore flavours and learn together.
These programs provide local opportunities for parents, carers and children to meet and participate. Check current bookings, fees and availability with the centre.
Library and digital learning
Hopetoun Public Library offers books, audiobooks, DVDs, children’s collections and interlibrary loans. Membership is free for residents and ratepayers, with temporary membership available for visitors.
Library members can also access digital reading and other online resources. Tech & Tea sessions provide relaxed assistance with smartphones, tablets and online services.
Arts, science and community connection
The CRC brings science and creativity together through Hopetoun Marine Science Week. Its 2026 Ocean Art Exhibition featured local artists and young people exploring marine life, coastal environments and conservation.
For adults, Hopey Harmony Circle offers changing activities such as art, craft and cooking, with opportunities to learn and meet others. Ask the CRC about future places and sessions.
Staying in Place
The Staying in Place program helps older residents connect with support to continue living in their own homes and community. Services can include household assistance, social support and transport, depending on individual arrangements.
Contact the local team about current services and how to access support.
Practical services and business support
The CRC provides public internet, printing, scanning, laminating, binding, graphic design, meeting facilities and a government information access point.
Through the Fitzgerald Business Network, local businesses and community groups can access training, networking, promotion and advocacy.
The CRC also produces The Fitzy Files, a podcast sharing local voices and the spoken history of Hopetoun and surrounding areas.
