Dowerin Community Resource Centre (CRC) provides local access to technology, practical services, learning opportunities and community information.

Programs and services

Technology, documents and training

The CRC offers computer and technology classes and individual assistance for different age groups, alongside public computers and Wi-Fi.

Everyday services include printing, scanning, emailing, laminating, document formatting and photo services. These help residents, businesses and community groups complete tasks locally.

Staff can also assist people to access Medicare, Centrelink and other government services. Contact the centre about the assistance available for your particular enquiry.

Library and early literacy

Dowerin Public Library operates from the CRC building, providing a local place to access library services and reading resources.

The Shire’s library work includes early literacy initiatives such as Better Beginnings, which encourages families to share books and reading with young children.

Library enquiries: library@dowerin.wa.gov.au.

Community activities and events

The CRC team helps coordinate community events and supports local groups to turn ideas into projects.

Activities have included free family celebrations at Dowerin Memorial Pool. The 2026 Australia Day program brought together breakfast, community awards and children’s activities, including face painting and inflatables.

Ask the CRC about upcoming workshops, family activities and opportunities to get involved.

Local training opportunities also received a boost in October 2026, when the Shire was awarded Regional Traineeship Program funding for a Certificate III in Events traineeship. Contact the Shire for information about recruitment and commencement arrangements.

Support for local groups and businesses

The CRC provides workshops, marketing assistance and help connecting businesses with useful resources. It also assists community organisations to identify funding opportunities and prepare grant applications and acquittals.

Community Development Coordinator Shelley Matthews oversees CRC operations and supports community projects, grants and budgets.

Older residents and community connection

Older residents can enquire about local social activities, learning opportunities and support through the CRC.

The Shire also operates Dowerin Home Care, helping residents maintain independence at home. CRC staff can direct enquiries to the appropriate team for current service and access information.

The Dowerin Despatch is the local newspaper, printed fortnightly through the CRC.

Community groups and businesses can contact the team about notices, advertising and publication deadlines.
