Blackwood Youth Action — Bridgetown
Creative opportunities, connection and support for young people.
Blackwood Youth Action — BYA — supports young people aged 12–25 across the Warren–Blackwood region. Its Bridgetown base at BYA House brings together activities, practical assistance and wellbeing support.
Programs and activities
Creativity and games
BYA Creative Workshops give young people opportunities to explore art, develop skills and connect with others. The Bridgetown program for late 2026 includes clay creations, painting, felting and seasonal crafts.
Dungeons & Dragons sessions welcome beginners and experienced players. Participants create characters and work through shared adventures, with materials provided. BYA also advertises workshops for young people interested in becoming Dungeon Masters.
Friendship, identity and wellbeing
Bridgetown’s program includes:
- Queer Connect: fortnightly catch-ups for LGBTQIA+ young people.
- Boys Forward: social activities that have included cooking, board games, fishing and sport.
- Girls Empowerment: a Term 4 2026 program focused on confidence, positive body image, healthy habits, wellbeing and friendship.
Check BYA’s current program listings for session dates, eligibility and bookings.
Curate by BYA
Curate creates opportunities for young artists, makers and musicians to share their work, develop experience and reach an audience.
Its 2026 opportunities include selling handmade work through a Blues at Bridgetown stall and participating in a Youth Market, with stalls and live performance opportunities for young people aged 12–25.
Counselling and practical support
BYA Connect helps young people and families identify their needs and connect with appropriate support. This can include mental and physical health, education, employment, housing and social connections.
BYA also provides counselling, case management, mediation and family support. Contact the team about appointments and referrals.
Youth enterprise and work experience
The volunteer-run Youth Enterprise Opportunity Shop — YEOp Shop raises income for BYA’s services and gives young people opportunities to gain retail experience.
Young people can develop customer service, organisation and workplace skills alongside supportive volunteers.
